“This message came to me concerning Moab…”
(Isaiah 15:1)
Isaiah begins with a message God spoke to him — and he wrote it down.
This alone teaches us something powerful:
When God shows you something — write it.
We all receive:
-
Dreams
-
Visions
-
Burdens in our heart
-
Warnings
-
Comfort
-
Insight about people we love — and sometimes even those who don’t talk to us anymore.
Not everything God shows is meant to be spoken immediately to the person.
But it is meant to be recorded, preserved, and prayed over.
This is why we read Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel today — their obedience to write allows us to understand God’s heart generations later.
Scripture says:
“We will not hide them from their children… so the next generation might know.”
(Psalm 78:4–7)
If we do not pass down the works of God, who will?
Your dreams.
Your testimonies.
Your encounters with God.
Your stories of His mercy.
They must be preserved — for your children, and their children.
The Fall of Moab — When Glory Turns to Ashes
When trouble comes upon someone, the news spreads fast — almost like wildfire.
So it was with Moab.
Moab was wealthy.
Moab was prosperous.
Moab was proud.
Moab was comfortable.
But their downfall was so great that their destruction made their glory known.
Just as Scripture says:
“Do not be envious of the wicked… for the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be put out.”
(Psalm 37:1, 20)
Moab is the perfect example.
When pride rises, God’s anger becomes unquenchable.
Every major city of Moab — the strong ones, the beautiful ones, the wealthy ones — is described in this chapter:
-
Ruined
-
Empty
-
Desolate
-
Stripped of food
-
Lacking water
-
Forsaken
God “shuns everyone from the place” — because His holiness cannot tolerate what they allowed.
When God Loves His People, He Beautifies Their Place
This is a deep truth:
When God chooses His children, He decorates their dwelling place.
He prepared Eden before He placed Adam there.
He showed Abraham Canaan before calling him forward.
He showed Moses the Promised Land before Israel stepped into it.
God beautifies what belongs to His children.
But when His anger rises…
He destroys:
-
The people
-
The place
-
And even the memories of comfort
So they cannot return to restart life in the same disobedience.
A Word for Us Today
If you ever see areas of your life:
-
collapsing
-
drying up
-
shutting down
-
becoming empty
-
feeling desolate
-
losing peace
Before blaming the devil…
Before blaming people…
Before blaming circumstances…
Search your heart. Repent. Return.
Because sometimes, desolation is God's way of saying:
“This part of your life cannot continue as it is.”
Prayer:
Lord, search my heart and reveal anything that keeps me from You. Teach me to hear Your voice, write what You show me, and walk in obedience. Restore every place in my life that pride has damaged. Keep me close to Your heart. Amen.
